Natural Beauty of Upper Peninsula of Michigan

The town was booming Early 1900's so this barn could be 100 years old. I love the special diamond window .
This barn is surrounded by a large open farm field with large piles of ice age rocks. Just outside of Gaastra MI in the township of Stambaugh.

Hot summer day makes the Pine river run low enough you can bring a chair out and sit in the river like these folks.
The cross country ski trail is not marked on google maps. This entrance is off Forest Service Road 2046 right across the pine river next to Chipmunk creek.

A must visit when visiting the Horserace Rapids Nature Trail on the Paint River. The airport is pretty quiet, I have personally landed here years ago so it is active.

This is a very special area with the falls and old timers know some of the old wild blueberry preserves are in this area, so July is full of wild blueberries around here. They don't publish it on maps any longer, but the old maps show the preserves and many are on private land now inaccessible.
This creek flows between Lake Emely and Chicagon Lake and flows across U.S. 2 on the way to Iron River.
Signs for Perch Lake and HWY 16 off Gibbs City Road. Just down the roan is the paint river crossings and everything here on north turns to gravel.
Along the Iron River shelter under the bridge on the Apple Blossom Trail. Just down the trail is the The Tailings Disc Golf Course.
An old mine with mine shaft and building off Gibbs City Road. Locked up but you can see a lot of equipment laying around still.
This beautiful farm is active. The barn has been fully restored and looks perfect.
