Blossoming Nature of Upper Peninsula of Michigan

The Dam at cowboy Lake Park. The Brule river combines with the Paint River, then combines with the Michigamme River and they all combine to make the Menominee River. The Menominee River will continue to the Great Lake Michigan at Marinette Wisconsin and Menominee Michigan.
Looking Down River on the Menomonee River next to Ford Airport in Iron Mountain. This river is the division between Wisconsin on the far side and Michigan on this side just like the Brule River. The Brule river combines with the Paint River, then combines with the Michigamme River and they all combine to make the Menominee River. The Menominee River will continue to the Great Lake Michigan at Marinette Wisconsin and Menominee Michigan. They are both the same town north of Green Bay on Green bay divided by the Menominee river.
Wild Pheasant in Pentoga Michigan. This happens from time to time. I am told the Pheasant is not native, nor will it survive the winters. It is a stocked game bird that has found its way into our little village. This year on 2022 there was a mating pair. I have more questions than answers.

Pentoga Village is full of very old apple trees. Our headquarters has 8 plus 100 year old apple trees all different types.

Fishing point above Pentoga Road Bridge National Forest Road 2446. This point is perfect fishing point on the Wisconsin side. There is a path that can be flooded due to spring activity. Find your native trout here on the Brule River. One guy is from Wisconsin, one guy is from Colorado, guess which is which :).

This is the part of the trail to the fishing point on the Brule River. It is actually an old rail line graded and elevated over the spring feed swamp. There are several springs in the marsh. Ahead is the Brule River To the right is Pentoga Road.
The old bridge on Pentoga Road National Forest Road 2446. Looking upriver the old Pentoga mill was very close to here. The Mill ruins are now on private property but back in the day I walked down and saw what little was left.
The old bridge on Pentoga Road National Forest Road 2446. Brule river is historic and was used in the early 1900 to ferry logs to the Pentoga Log Mill just above this bridge. The Logs were stored and then floated down the Brule in the spring flood to the mill. Old Pentoga was a Lumber town, and had many of the same company houses and church and school and hotel.
The old bridge on Pentoga Road National Forest Road 2446. This is the last standing bridge for a long time crossing the Brule for many miles up and down river. Every spring is comes under attack from floods. In 2023 the river came to the top and overflowed a new segment on Wisconsin side.

Spring 2022 peddled from Denver to Iron River, took 22 peddle days and some rest days too for weather mostly. It was very cold wet windy and rainy, all forgotten after it was done.
Here in Land O' Lakes on Hwy 45 you cross into Michigan going North.
Lac Vieux Desert is a big lake, covering 4,260 acres, nearly seven square miles, and it extends beyond the Wisconsin border into Michigan. The lake is sandwiched between two massive national forests; the Ottawa National Forest in Michigan and the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Wisconsin. Lac Vieux Desert holds muskies, perch, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike and walleyes.
The Sunrise lodge at Land O' Lakes WI is a gem, if you are lucky enough to stay they have inclusive food from in my opinion a world class local run restaurant for the guests. So good I cannot describe it. They have several lodging options and the lake is a great fishing lake.
The flowage is located on County Road B on the way to Land O' Lakes. This direction North goes to Mamie Lake.
